Robyn has been practicing Iyengar Yoga for 30 years and has been teaching for 20 years in Sydney. She holds a Junior Intermediate III Teaching Certificate. As well as teaching general classes Robyn also uses her yoga knowledge and experience to teach people with MS and other chronic conditions. What is unique about Iyengar Yoga is the innovative approach in the practice of asana and pranayama which emphasises precision and alignment, planned sequencing, timing and the use of props. It is a dynamic style of yoga developed through disciplined practice and research. This approach has allowed people of varying ages, levels of health and fitness to enjoy the benefits which a sustained practice can bring – the ability to face the physical, mental and emotional challenges of contemporary life with strength, vitality, mobility, thoughtfulness and equanimity. Through this sustained practice many physical issues can be addressed and a quality of life supported.
Robyn continues to develop as a teacher through ongoing professional development with local senior teachers as well as visiting the Iyengar Yoga Institute in India to work directly with the Iyengar family. Robyn is also a Clinical Counsellor and Shiatsu practitioner and integrates the understanding from these other modalities into her Yoga teaching.
