Jo’s inspiring yoga journey began in 2005 following a head-on car accident which left her with two bulging discs, numbness down the left side of her leg and chronic pain for years. The physical sensation felt like broken glass in her lower back. Everyday tasks were a challenge and mobility was limited.
A back specialist recommended surgery.
A friend suggested yoga… and so it begins…
At Jo’s first class she required assistance to get on and off the mat, stepping forward from down dog into a lunge took months to conquer and sitting in easy pose took five years to do without support…with the wisdom and guidance from her first teacher Craig Smith – Brisbane Yoga & Meditation, her healing journey began…Jo recalls her first night of sleeping without pain as somewhat miraculous! She was onto something!
Six years later Jo had to share this with others and began her teacher training with John Ogilvie of Byron Yoga Centre. Her love of teaching others to connect with the breath on a deeper level lead her to study restorative yoga, yoga for trauma, psychosomatic therapy, reiki and shiatsu massage, and now combines her wealth of knowledge and finely tuned skills in these areas, along with her intuitive connection with the body, to lead her students to connect with their own body’s infinite ability to heal, and she loves it!
Jo’s classes focus on asana alignment, mindfulness and the philosophy of yoga. Her Happy Healthy Hips workshops bring the curious beginner out of the woodwork.
Jo specializes in One on One consults in Sydney, Newcastle and the Central Coast.
