Chris started yoga while serving in the Australian Army as a Combat Engineer. It helped him maintain physical performance standards and manage the symptoms of mental illness developed through a combat deployment of Afghanistan. After meeting Rob Ginnivan (Mindfulness Coach) through Soldier On he was introduced to John Ogilvie (Founder/Director of the Byron Yoga Centre). Chris had been awarded the male yearly scholarship with Bikram Yoga, however choose to accept an offer to train with the Byron Yoga Centre in Bali. Chris completed his Level One in Bali and then later continued with Level Two and a Certificate IV at the Byron Yoga Centre.
Chris was medically discharged from the Military last year after 14 years and went into teaching Yoga and Mindfulness. He shares the benefits of a Mind/Body practice with other veterans as a volunteer teacher at Soldier On and more recently he has joined the board of the Frontline Yoga Foundation. The Purna method Chris teaches is focused on Asana, Pranayam, Meditation and Philosophy. He now returns to the Byron Yoga Centre as an itinerant instructor for the Level One Teacher Training.
